Welcome to the Blog of the Prop Making Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The Guildhall School of Music & Drama is one of the world’s leading conservatoires and drama schools, offering musicians, actors, stage managers and theatre technicians an inspiring environment in which to develop as artists and professionals. The Guildhall School of Music and Drama runs a Technical Theatre Arts BA Course with 5 strands: Stage Management, Costume Management, Theatre Technology, Video, and Design Realisation.

Design Realisation covers three areas: Construction Scenic Art and Prop Making.

Students in the Prop Making Department work on around fifteen shows a year. This blog showcases some of the work they undertake.

The Prop making Department is led by Pat Shammon BA Hons Theatre Design, PGCHE, Post Grad Cert in History of Art. He has worked at English National Opera, Nottingham Playhouse, Musica Nel Chiostro: an opera festival in Tuscany. Plus freelance work for many community theatre companies, Channel 4, Torvill and Dean, and The Muppets.
